This is the first knife I have made using Apex Ultra and I am in love with it. Apex Ultra is designed to excel in the high hardness range making it perfect for cutlery with an ultra fine edge. I ordered this san mai bar from Tobias Hangler and it was a dream to use. It has my standard subtle convex with a zero edge. It is very light and nimble and the steel feels amazing on stones. I left the blade un-etched and the contrast with the core is a little more subtle than the pictures show. It looks amazing in the right light and the carbon migration and allow banding in the stainless is gorgeous. The handle is a hidden tang frame style with richlite scales, copper carbon fiber frame, canvas micarta bolster and pins and a copper accent rivet in the back. It is shaped in a taller thinner hexagonal cross section that is extremely comfortable.
